Here is our Sweet Tilda with her straw hat.
Ladies straw hats early on were referred to as bonnets.
During the first half of the nineteenth century the bonnet dominated women's fashion, becoming very large with many ribbons, flowers, feathers and gauze trims giving an appearance of even greater size.
By the end of the century, although bonnets were still prevalent, many other styles were to be found, including wide brims with flat crowns, the flower pot and the toque - feathers and veils abounded.
I remember my grandmother wearing hats to church and special events. I wish hats were more common today as I think they are so pretty.
Tilda is colored with various Copic shades of Teal. I chose a shade of apricot to set off the Teal colors.
Flowers and floral stick pins are from Wild Orchid Crafts, Swirls from an EK punch, pearls and bow from my stash along with the cs from SU and BG papers.
Hope this finds you all doing well. I love all your card designs, they inspire me. Many thanks for coming by. Your all very special.
Blessings, Doreen

Very sweet card! Beautifully done....We have an older lady at our church who every Sunday wears a different hat. I think it is great. I wish I looked good in hats but not so much!

I have to laugh because I bet those larger hats (bonnets) made your hips look small!!! Giggle! Love the history lesson on the hats, they certainly died out in the 60's! This card is adorable with Tilda and her bonnet! Cute as always...hugs...Barb <><
